Copper can be a nutrient or toxicant depending on what form it takes in the environment. In this study, we examine the chemical form of copper in nearshore waters of Bermuda, focusing on human-impacted sites like boat yards and the marine dump. We found that the biologically available form of copper is present at dangerous levels at only one site, the Hamilton Harbor.
